Spring Lake Water Park Opens May 27, 2017

Sonoma County Regional Parks launches its 2017 summer aquatics season on Saturday, May 27, with the opening of the Spring Lake swimming lagoon – including the popular inflatable, floating playground – and new boat rentals on the lake.

Admission to the inflatable playground includes a reduced admission fee for adults (now $10 per person) and the addition of a $20 day pass that includes an hour of boat rental and a $60 season pass that includes daily admission and an hour of boat rental daily.

The first of its kind in Sonoma County, the inflatable playground debuted last summer and was a hit with families from around the Bay Area. The play zone is a network of floating slides, climbing walls, bridges, balance beams, jumps, trampolines, and other stations. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. The playground also can be reserved for parties and special events by calling (707) 565-2267.

The lagoon continues to include areas for free swim and lap swim, and there is no admission fee for swimming.

Regional Parks this year has assumed management of the Spring Lake boat rentals and has expanded the fleet of paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, and pedal boats. Rental service also begins May 27 and will be available daily through the summer and on weekends in the fall. Rates start at $12 per hour. The rental area is next to the swimming lagoon, which is reached through the park entrance at 393 Violetti Road. Parking is $7 or free for Regional Parks members.

Regional Parks also resumes its seasonal Russian River safety patrol on Memorial Day weekend. The patrol is a roving team of bilingual lifeguards and rangers who visit Steelhead, Sunset, Riverfront, and Forestville River Access beaches Fridays through Mondays. They fit visitors with loaner life vests, which are strongly recommended on the river, and talk with beachgoers about water safety. Visitors are urged to practice extreme caution this year as the river is flowing faster than usual, and environmental conditions, such as snags and drop-offs, may have changed considerably due to winter floods.

Regional Parks continues to partner with city recreation departments to offer the “Vamos a Nadar/Let’s Go Swimming” program through early July. The program offers low-cost bilingual swim lessons to children and water-safety training to parents. For more information and to register, call (707) 565-8034.
