Three Winter Hikes in "Big Sky" Parks
One of the special things about winter hiking is the show taking place in the sky. Whether a dark storm is approaching, giant clouds are clearing, or the setting sun is casting an orange glow, winter skies can be breathtaking. Our latest blog post describes three "big
sky" hikes in the Laguna de Santa Rosa, on Doran Beach and at Shiloh Ranch Regional Park.

Reserve Now for Summer Camping
Who thinks about camping in December? Folks who know winter is prime time to reserve a summer campsite. Now's the time to claim a sweet spot at Doran, Stillwater Cove, Gualala Point, and Spring Lake in June, July or August.
Summer vacancies will fill quickly as we move into the new year, so you'll be happy you planned ahead.
A Solstice Celebration for Families
The naturalists at Spring Lake's Environmental Discovery Center invite families to celebrate the solstice on Dec. 21. Kids can mark the first day of winter and shortest day of the year by making crafts like solar prints and taking a guided hike to Frog Pond to look for
newts and other winter residents.
Start the New Year with a "First Day Hike"
Resolving to start the new year on a healthy path? Join us for a "First Day Hike" with our neighbors at Jack London State Historic Park. This is a 9-mile hike on Jan. 1 from the state park in Glen Ellen, over Sonoma Mountain and down the north slope to North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park & Preserve.
Imagine how good we'll feel when we're done!
Rise and Shine for 50 Miles of Sunrises
Next year is a big one for Regional Parks because we're turning 50! One of the ways we're celebrating is with a new hiking series called "Sunrise Seekers," and the first of these monthly hikes is Jan. 4 at Foothill Ranch Regional Park. Over the
course of the year, our goal is to hike 50 miles total while catching the sunrises from our most prominent vistas.
Year-End Support Goes Twice as Far
The support we receive from the Regional Parks Foundation is an immense help in operating the parks, and we're fortunate that, once again, Foundation board members are matching up to $15,000 in year-end donations. Your gift will help us care for your favorite parks.
