Los Alamos Road Entrance Repair Project

Visit Hood Mountain

Project completed - Park entrance open!

Background

The New Years Flood of 2005-2006 damaged the Los Alamos Road park driveway, resulting in the closure of the lower parking lot. FEMA and Sonoma County Regional Parks reached agreement for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the California Emergency Management Agency (CAL-EMA) to fund repairs. The entrance was closed for repairs in September, 2012. Improvements included a new 335-foot soldier pile and lagging retaining wall with tie backs as well as driveway and trailhead construction. This project was completed in May, 2013.

The Los Alamos park gates and entrance to the lower parking lot and trailhead are now open.
