Learn how Smokey Bear inspired fire suppression policies over the last century caused unprecedented build-up of fuels in California’s forests. Find out how to harvest firewood in a sustainable way, and hike to a designated area of Stillwater Cove where we have been given special permission to gather our own firewood. Bring a bag to carry your firewood and wear sturdy boots, long pants, and long sleeves. Free. Parking $7 or free for Regional Parks members. Meet at the Camp Host campsite #18.
