Regional Parks will join thousands of organizations nationwide by hosting a project in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. This year’s day of service will be Regional Parks’ first public workday since the Nuns Fire burned through Sonoma Valley in early October, and features projects directly related to fire damage repair at Sonoma Valley Regional Park.
Participants will tackle a variety of tasks to repair burnt infrastructure as well as remove invasive plants and derelict fencing that inhibits wildlife passage. Staff will provide tools, gloves, water and snacks. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes, long pants, long-sleeve shirt, hat and sunscreen.
Volunteers 13 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Older, unaccompanied minors must have a signed parental consent form(PDF: 243kB). Space is limited to 50 participants; please RSVP to Jen Stanfield by email at Jennifer.Stanfield@sonoma-county.org or by phone at (707) 806-7696.
