Who lived here before us? What influences have past practices had on our current landscapes? Culture is alive, thriving, and ever changing. Join us for this series that examines the people and personalities of Sonoma County, their stories, and how their lives are tied to our most loved parks. Folks of all ages welcome. Registration is required for these free events. Parking $7 or free for Regional Parks members. January 16 - Doran Regional Park
Join us in exploring your local park’s cultural history as we begin to unravel what the landscape looked like prior to becoming a park. Learn the park history on a leisurely stroll around the southern end of Doran Regional Park. We’ll be learning about the Spanish settlement in Bodega Bay, the mixing of cultures along the coast and the various cultural and political influences that changed the landscape of this park.  Please bring your own folding chair, layers for changing weather and your own water. 

February 20 - Helen Putnam Regional Park
Join us to explore Helen Putnam’s cultural history as we begin to unravel what the landscape looked like prior to becoming a park. Investigate the park’s cultural history during a scavenger hunt revealing what the landscape looked like prior to Spanish/Mexican settlements. Come out for a leisurely history stroll and learn about the Spanish settlement, mixing of cultures and Sonoma County’s long-standing ranching roots.
