Branch out this spring
Spring is already showing up in your parks with sunny days, green hills and early blooms — and we're ready! We've got a brand-new lineup of spring outings. From wildflower walks and tide pool talks to paddling programs and park previews, this season’s offerings provide plenty of ways to get outside, try something new and enjoy the parks.
Summer camps registration open
Summer is around the corner, so it’s time to sign up for one of our full-day summer camps to give kids the chance to get outside, make friends and enjoy hands-on, active fun. Options include Nature Explorers and Junior Rangers at Riverfront Regional Park, and Discovery Camp, Junior Lifeguards and Little Lifesavers camps at Spring Lake Regional Park. Activities include kayaking, outdoor skills and team building, arts and crafts, games and journaling, and swimming and Spring Lake Water Park fun. Partial scholarships available.
Three Valentine's Day hikes
Valentine’s Day falls on a weekend this year, which means more time to celebrate outside with someone you care about. Our blog highlights three scenic hikes to explore with your Valentine, from coastal views and possible whale sightings to quiet walks through oak woodlands. These trails offer a chance to slow down and share time together and feature plenty of Instagram-worthy spots along the way. Plus, they’re dog-friendly, so your best pal can join you, too. Read the full guide and plan your Valentine’s Day adventure.
We love how much you love your parks
That care shows up in many ways, from visitors who recreate responsibly, members who support parks year after year and volunteers who give their time to these shared places. Your support helps us protect wildlife, care for natural resources and ensure parks remain places where everyone can unplug, slow down and connect with nature. This spring, join us for an upcoming volunteer day and continue helping care for the parks you love, from the coast to Spring Lake to Shiloh Ranch.

Support a new trail at Helen Putnam
Planning is underway for a future 1-mile trail at Helen Putnam Regional Park near Petaluma. The project will expand public access and recreation opportunities by connecting the park to a conserved portion of the historic Scott Ranch property, along the park's eastern border. Trail design and permitting are in progress, and the project is expected to go out to bid this spring.
A challenge grant from Ginnie and Peter Haas Jr., along with an anonymous pledge, will match the next $6,500 in contributions 2-to-1 through the Sonoma County Parks Foundation. Learn more about the project below.
Upcoming holiday closures
Our Santa Rosa office will be closed Thursday, Feb. 12, for Lincoln's Birthday, and Monday, Feb. 16, for President's Day. All parks will remain open.
