The park is named after Ernest Maynard "Ernie" Smith, one
of the pioneers in live sports announcing from the mid-1920's into the 1950's.
His enthusiastic, detailed descriptions earned him a loyal following, and his
highly recognizable voice could be heard in homes, backyards and gas stations
throughout the Bay Area.

Ernie Smith Community
Park has approximately .52 miles of trail consisting primarily of a paved
trail. The trail is virtually flat and passes by the playground, sports field,
and created wetland. There are picnic tables and a wildlife viewing platform
available along the trail.
