Sonoma County Regional Parks suspends public programs and gatherings through April 3

Santa Rosa, CA  –  March 16, 2020  –  Sonoma County Regional Parks is suspending guided activities and large gatherings and closing indoor facilities through April 3, 2020. The decision follows guidance from health authorities for slowing the community spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The suspension of public programs includes all recreation, education and group sports activities hosted by Regional Parks and private organizations as well as events and picnics approved through special use permits.

The Environmental Discovery Center at Spring Lake Regional Park and the visitor centers at Doran and Gualala Point regional parks are closed.

Regional Parks’ main office is suspending services to walk-in customers. Staff will continue to provide membership sales and campground reservations made by phone or online. 

Spud Point Marina, Mason’s Marina and the Sport Fishing Center in Bodega Bay remain open. The Spud Point Marina office is closed to walk-in customers, but marina staff are available for essential boat fueling and emergency response.

All parks, picnic areas and campgrounds remain open at this time, except for large group campsites and group picnic areas.

In summary, the following non-essential Regional Park services are suspended or closed from March 16-April 3, 2020:

  • Group outings, programs and activities
  • Group picnic areas and group campgrounds
  • Environmental Discovery Center at Spring Lake and visitor centers at Doran Beach and Gualala Point
  • Special use permits for large events
  • Organized use of fields and sports courts by athletic leagues
  • Walk-in service at Regional Parks’ main lobby and Spud Point Marina
