Alcohol Banned at Forestville Beach Starting July 1

June 29, 2015 in News

Sonoma County Regional Parks will no longer allow alcohol at Forestville River Access (also known as Mom's or Mother's Beach) starting July 1, 2015. The new restriction is the result of numerous complaints and observations of public intoxication, underage drinking, and aggressive behavior.

Information about the alcohol policy is posted in the beach parking area at 10584 River Drive, along the beach access trail, and at local businesses serving beachgoers. In addition, parks staff are frequenting the beach this week to further inform visitors of the new rule.

Park rangers, Sonoma County sheriff's deputies, and California Highway Patrol officers will be highly visible near the beach and in the Russian River corridor for the July 4 th weekend. Forestville River Access visitors with unopened containers of alcohol will be asked to return them to their cars or to leave the beach. Visitors with open containers will be asked to pour out the contents. Subsequent violations will lead to misdemeanor citations, court appearances and fines.

Alcohol possession and consumption is allowed at Cloverdale River Park, Riverfront Regional Park, Steelhead Beach, and Sunset Beach. Alcohol is not allowed at Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach or Guerneville River Park.
