Public Input Needed on Future of Maxwell Farms Park
Published: January 05, 2015
Sonoma County Regional Parks is planning for renovations and considering new features for Maxwell Farms Regional Park in Sonoma and invites community members to share their ideas at a Jan. 14 workshop. The session is an opportunity for Sonoma Valley residents to help shape this popular park by recommending amenities and programs.
Regional Parks is updating the park's master plan as a guide for future improvements, which would be undertaken as funding becomes available. The 80-acre park now includes soccer and baseball fields, a playground, a skate park, picnic areas, tennis and volleyball courts, and 2.5 miles of nature trails. The park's original master plan was created in 1986 and amended in the mid-1990's to add some of these amenities as well as the Valley of the Moon Boys and Girls Club facility.
The Jan. 14 workshop starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Discovery Room at the Boys and Girls Club, which is inside the park at 100 Verano Ave. Additional workshops are tentatively scheduled for April and June. Community members can also give input through online surveys available in English and Spanish at sonomacountyparks.org
