View of Doran Boat Launch from Bodega Head 500

Proposed Action

To address the safety hazards and degraded facilities, Regional Parks, with a $990,000 grant from the California Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW), proposes improvement of the boat launch and supporting facilities. Specific improvements would include:

Boat Ramp Refurbishment: The boat ramp would be resurfaced by using precast concrete panels set directly on the existing concrete ramp. Worn out piles would be replaced with new concrete piles and boarding floats would be replaced with new fiberglass and composite floats.

Boat Washdown: The boat washdown would be slightly relocated to improve traffic flow and safety.

Fish-cleaning Station: The fish-cleaning station would be renovated to improve accessibility and replace aging plumbing, cutting board and deteriorated structural elements. This part of the project is being bid as an add alternative, and will be part of the contract if sufficient funding is available.

Parking Area: The existing paved parking area would be resurfaced and restriped. A pedestrian sidewalk would be added along the water side of the parking lot for improved safety. A vegetated swale for improved water retention and filtration would be added in the center of the parking area between the existing paved and gravel lots.

The paving of the gravel parking area immediately west of the currently paved area is being bid as an add alternative, and will be part of the contract if sufficient funding is available.
