Taylor Mountain Natural Play Area - Project Detail

Taylor Mountain Natural Play Area Log Beam 500

Project Process

Regional Parks Planning Division solicited input on the preliminary design through two primary venues, as well as receiving ongoing comments and feedback on the project information available through the website.

In collaboration with Sonoma Academy, a local high school adjacent to Taylor Mountain, Park Planner Scott Wilkinson conducted a workshop at their free summer camp with 5th grade students from Taylor Mountain Elementary School and Kawana Academy of Arts and Sciences to explore the design possibilities for the Natural Play Area.

The second venue was a public meeting held in February of 2016 to review and receive feedback on the preliminary concept plan for the play area. The meeting was attended by a small but very engaged group that provided meaningful input on the design.

The Planning Division took the input into consideration, continued to develop the preferred design, and subsequently finalized the plans for the play area. The project construction took about a year and was completed in December 2020.
