Sunset Beach offers easy access to the Russian River and is a destination for swimming, paddling, tubing, rafting and picnicking. Sunset is a popular end point for rafters who float downriver from Steelhead Beach or Forestville River Access. The beach also offers fishing and birdwatching opportunities.
From the parking area, a short, unpaved trail passes a picnic area and leads to a rocky beach with beautiful views of redwood forests and the Hacienda Bridge.
Alcohol consumption is not allowed in the park or on the beach in the summer. Fires or barbecues are not allowed on the beach. Charter bus access is not allowed.
Take your Raft/Tube
Do not leave rafts and tubes on the beach at the end of your float trip. All flotation devices left behind are trash and can pollute the river and harm wildlife. Please practice Leave No Trace principles.
Lifeguards are not on duty. Adult and children's life vests are available for free use in the summer. Look for the life vest stands on the beach.
ADA access is available to a portable restroom and picnic areas. There are three accessible parking spaces.
