Public invited to shape future Mark West Creek Regional Park and Open Space Preserve
Sonoma County Regional Parks seeks community input to help shape the future of Mark West Creek Regional Park and Open Space Preserve in northwest Santa Rosa. The department is creating a master plan to guide the park’s future development, public access, vegetation management, educational uses and habitat enhancement. The public is encouraged to share their desires, thoughts, and feedback by taking an online survey now through Nov. 11, 2022, at MarkWestCreekParkAndPreserve.org. Read full story
New trails, more coming to Taylor Mountain Regional Park and Open Space Preserve
Sonoma County’s largest trail construction project in over a decade is underway at Taylor Mountain Regional Park and Open Space Preserve in Santa Rosa. When completed, hikers, cyclists and equestrians will have access to an additional 450 acres of the 1,100-acre park. These new trails will improve the quality of recreational opportunities and access to nature close to Sonoma County’s most populous city, adding approximately 8 miles of new multi-use trails and doubling the park’s existing trail network. Maxwell Farms Regional Park renovation budget approved by Board of Supervisors
The Board of Supervisors today approved an additional $3.35 million needed to complete $7.2 million in renovations and improvements to recreation facilities at Maxwell Farms Regional Park, a popular regional park located in Boyes Hot Springs adjacent to the city of Sonoma. Read full story
Acquisition expands Hood Mountain Regional Park and Open Space Preserve
Sonoma County Regional Parks has acquired 120 acres on the western flank of Hood Mountain Regional Park and Open Space Preserve above the Sonoma Valley, a strategic expansion that will preserve scenic views and wildlife habitat, offer new recreation opportunities, and support future wildfire defense. New trail, parking lot open at Helen Putnam Regional Park
Fans of Helen Putnam Regional Park in Petaluma have more to celebrate with this month's opening of a new entrance and multi-use trail on the north side of the park. The 31-space parking lot on Windsor Drive is 1 mile closer to downtown than the parks southern entrance on Chileno Valley Road and gives visitors access to the new West Wind Trail. Read full story
Construction begins for Guerneville River Park boat launch area, project also upgrading downtown regional park
The community of Guerneville will soon get its first public boat launch as part of Sonoma County Regional Parks’ effort to expand river access and public recreation on the Russian River. Construction of the launch area for non-motorized watercraft began in August at Guerneville River Park. Read full story
Public Input Invited for Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach Master Plan
Sonoma County Regional Parks is preparing a master plan to develop a vision for Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach and invites the public to share feedback on potential improvements for the Russian River park. A workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. June 7 at the park, 13839 Old Redwood Highway, is the first of several opportunities the public will have to help guide the park’s redevelopment and natural resource management.
