Construction begins for Guerneville River Park boat launch area, project also upgrading downtown regional park

The community of Guerneville will soon get its first public boat launch as part of Sonoma County Regional Parks’ effort to expand river access and public recreation on the Russian River. Construction of the launch area for non-motorized watercraft began in August at Guerneville River Park. Read full story

Public Input Invited for Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach Master Plan

Sonoma County Regional Parks is preparing a master plan to develop a vision for Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach and invites the public to share feedback on potential improvements for the Russian River park. A workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. June 7 at the park, 13839 Old Redwood Highway, is the first of several opportunities the public will have to help guide the park’s redevelopment and natural resource management. Moorland Park Planning Begins with September 3, 2015 Workshop

Sonoma County Regional Parks is organizing a participatory design process to involve the Moorland neighborhood in each step of planning for a new 4-acre park. A neighborhood steering committee will guide a design process built upon a series of community workshops beginning Thursday, September 3, at the Moorland Avenue park site in southwest Santa Rosa. Petaluma-Sebastopol Trail Feasibility Study Selected for Funding

Regional Parks will receive a $209,436 grant to study the feasibility of creating a 13-mile bicycle and pedestrian trail connecting Petaluma and Sebastopol. The award was announced April 24 by the Caltrans' Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant Program, which received 190 applications and chose 51 for funding, pending approval of the 2015-16 state budget.
