Splash into summer with Sonoma County Regional Parks

Spring Lake Water Park and swimming, River Shuttle return Memorial Day weekend

Sonoma County, CA | May 20, 2025

Starting Memorial Day weekend, popular warm-weather activities return to Spring Lake Regional Park in Santa Rosa and to Russian River beaches in western Sonoma County.

Spring Lake’s Water Park, lagoon and boat rentals open Saturday, May 24. They will initially operate the weekends of May 24-26 and May 31-June 1, with daily operations beginning Friday, June 6. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The inflatable, floating Water Park (393 Violetti Road, Santa Rosa) offers four timed sessions per day with tiered pricing: 11:30 a.m., $10; 1:30 p.m., $12; 3:30 p.m., $10; 5:30 p.m., $7 (short session). Part playground and part obstacle course, the Water Park is open to adults and children (ages 6 and up and at least 42 inches tall). Buy tickets at SoCoParks.org/WaterPark.

For swimming and beach play, admission to the Spring Lake lagoon is free; no reservations needed. Lifeguards are on duty, and free life jackets are available at the beach. The lagoon is chlorinated, filtered and tested to ensure water quality exceeds state standards.

On Spring Lake, stand-up paddleboards and single and tandem kayak rentals start at $15 an hour. Rental service runs from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Reserve at SoCoParks.org/Aquatics.

Russian River visitors can avoid full parking lots by taking the Regional Parks River Shuttle on weekends and holidays through Labor Day. The shuttle runs from El Molino High School in Forestville to Steelhead and Sunset beaches, eliminating the need to stage vehicles at separate parks. Tickets are only $5 for all-day access, and kids 18 and younger ride free. Buy tickets at SoCoParks.org/Shuttle.

Free life jacket loaner stations are returning to Russian River parks, including Del Rio Woods, Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach, Steelhead Beach, Forestville River Access, and Sunset Beach. Visitors can borrow a life jacket for the day at no charge and return it before leaving.

The Russian River Patrol, a roving team of lifeguards, will be on duty Fridays through Mondays through Labor Day. Later in the summer, lifeguarded swimming will be available at Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach when the seasonal dam is installed in early July.

The parking fee at Sunset Beach, Steelhead Beach, Riverfront, Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach and Del Rio Woods is $12 from May 23 through Sept. 7. Spring Lake's parking is $10 for that same period. The parking fee at other regional parks increases from $7 to $8 beginning July 1. Parking is free with an annual parks membership.
