Activities Guide Features Dozens of Hikes, Outings and Events

Camping for beginners, family bike rides, and fitness hikes among the new offerings

Find new ways to enjoy the outdoors with Sonoma County Regional Parks’ latest activities guide.

The Winter/Spring 2020 guide highlights dozens of events from January through May and offers a wide range of activities, including hikes, camps, family outings, clubs, and special events.

The guide is available on Regional Parks' website as a free download in English and Spanish, and the activities are also featured on Regional Parks’  calendar of events.

Step back in time to explore how plate tectonics and volcanic activity have shaped the area’s landscapes in the new  Rock Out! Geology of Sonoma County. Examine the people and personalities of Sonoma County and how their lives are tied to our most-loved parks in a new  Stories of the Land series.

Families will learn how to properly fit helmets and trail etiquette for passing cyclists and pedestrians at the new  Family Fun Bike Ride. New to  camping? Parks staff will have you making dinner outside and sleeping out under the stars in no time. The new  Fitness Hiking series offers adventure seekers panoramic views, seasonal flora and wildlife observations.

Enjoy returning favorites, such as the  Junior Ranger ProgramSenior Saunters, and  Nuestros Parques. Nurture your inner scientist and explore the vast biodiversity of the parks by joining the International City Nature Challenge, a  BioBlitz event for the entire family.

And don’t forget about the rainbow of colors when the wildflowers are in bloom. Several  wildflower walks are planned for mid- to late-spring. Also, discover how the parks are recovering after the 2017 and 2019 fires in  Wildfire Recovery Hikes.
