Step back in time to explore how plate tectonics and volcanic activity have shaped the area’s landscapes in the new Rock Out! Geology of Sonoma County. Examine the people and personalities of Sonoma County and how their lives are tied to our most-loved parks in a new Stories of the Land series.
Families will learn how to properly fit helmets and trail etiquette for passing cyclists and pedestrians at the new Family Fun Bike Ride. New to camping? Parks staff will have you making dinner outside and sleeping out under the stars in no time. The new Fitness Hiking series offers adventure seekers panoramic views, seasonal flora and wildlife observations.
Enjoy returning favorites, such as the Junior Ranger Program, Senior Saunters, and Nuestros Parques. Nurture your inner scientist and explore the vast biodiversity of the parks by joining the International City Nature Challenge, a BioBlitz event for the entire family.
And don’t forget about the rainbow of colors when the wildflowers are in bloom. Several wildflower walks are planned for mid- to late-spring. Also, discover how the parks are recovering after the 2017 and 2019 fires in Wildfire Recovery Hikes.
- The Sonoma County Regional Parks system includes 56 parks, beaches and trails. Regional Parks preserves natural and cultural resources and offers opportunities for recreation and education that enhance the quality of life and well-being of residents and visitors.
