Take time for an "awe walk"
Time in nature always does us good, and we're fortunate in Sonoma County to have so many places to explore on these beautiful autumn days. Hear seasonal streams running. Notice the patterns on the fallen leaves. Feel the brisk air. Our recent blog on "awe walks" reminds us to slow down, breathe in and let nature work its magic.
Picking up the pace of prescribed burns
This fall, we've been ramping up our use of prescribed fires to keep our parks healthy. With our partners, we coordinated burns at Tolay Lake Regional Park and Monte Rio Redwoods Regional Park and Preserve (pictured above) in late October. We're planning fires at Carrington Coast Ranch and Shiloh Ranch Regional Park this week and next. See our prescribed fire webpage for dates and to learn more about how "good fire" helps the land and download the Watch Duty app to monitor real-time smoke alerts.

Park Preview DaysGet a sneak peek of a few of Sonoma County’s newest parklands! Take a self-guided tour of Mark West Creek Regional Park and Preserve (Santa Rosa) on Nov. 16 and at Calabazas Creek Regional Park and Preserve (Sonoma Valley, pictured at top) on Nov. 23. Autumn adventures: Hike, beach, repeat

Free holiday parking for Veterans
This Veterans Day weekend, Nov. 9-11, veterans, military members and their families are eligible free parking at all Sonoma County Regional Parks. Special holiday passes are available through Nov. 8 at our office or the Sonoma County Veterans Services Office and at Doran Regional Park through Nov. 11.

Support the health and happiness of family and friends this holiday season with Regional Parks gift memberships. When you give a parks membership, you give a year of free parking at 60 parks, a night of free camping and endless opportunities to get outside in 2025.
