West County Trail

The first segment of the West County Trail was the Joe Rodota Trail, which was open to the public in 1990. Over the years as funding became available, the County was able to build additional trail segments which now total 13 miles.

The West County Trail provides recreational opportunities and serves as an important bicycle transportation route that links the following communities: Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Graton and Forestville.

Most of the trail alignment is separated from the roadway, but there are several segments where a bicyclist must ride on the road shoulder. Future improvements include replacing old bridges, completing the trail gaps in Santa Rosa and Forestville, and upgrading the trail alignments from an on-street connection to an off-street connection such as Occidental Road and Green Valley Road.
