SupervisorsIntroduce Regional Parks Ballot Measure

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday, July 10, to introduce an ordinance that will place on the Nov. 6 ballot a one-eighth-cent sales tax measure for regional and local park improvements. If approved by voters, the sales tax would support the county and cities with their long-term needs to maintain parks, protect natural resources, reduce wildfire risks, provide health and recreation programs, and open new parks and trails. Joe Rodota Trail Section Reopened to Cyclists, Pedestrians

Sonoma CountyRegional Parks on Tuesday, 6/5, reopened the Joe Rodota Trail between Dutton andRoseland avenues after completing a multi-day cleanup of an illegal homelessencampment. The trail was closed May 30 to allow the county of Sonoma and cityof Santa Rosa to reestablish a safe and clean trail for pedestrians andcyclists. During the closure, approximately 100 illegal campers were notifiedof the need to move, with the last occupants leaving June 1. Read full story

Andy's Unity Park Opens June 2, 2018

The public is invited to celebrate the opening and dedication of Andy’s Unity Park at 3399 Moorland Avenue in southwest Santa Rosa from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 2. The afternoon will include a rich program of community speakers, music, food, children’s activities, dancers, drummers, art projects, yoga, skateboard demonstrations, and booths hosted by local organizations. Public Input Invited for Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach Master Plan

Sonoma County Regional Parks is preparing a master plan to develop a vision for Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach and invites the public to share feedback on potential improvements for the Russian River park. A workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. June 7 at the park, 13839 Old Redwood Highway, is the first of several opportunities the public will have to help guide the park’s redevelopment and natural resource management. Hood Mountain's Pythian Road Entrance Reopens

Sonoma County Regional Parks has reopened the Pythian Road entrance to Hood Mountain Regional Park & Preserve. The southern half of the park had been closed since the October 2017 wildfire swept across large portions of the mountain. This section of the park experienced some of the most severe fire impacts.
