Prescribed pile-burning operations planned at Shiloh Ranch Regional Park Feb. 28 - March 3

Sonoma County Regional Parks is planning to conduct pile burns at Shiloh Ranch Regional Park February 28th through March 3rd. The upcoming pile burn is a continuation of fuels reduction work conducted by Park’s staff and the California Conservation Corps (CCC) that thinned vegetation along the Park’s roads and trails. In the 2021-22 fiscal year, county and municipal park agencies throughout Sonoma County used nearly $12.4 million in Parks for All – Measure M funds to focus on climate resiliency, stewarding woodlands to make forests more resilient to fire and building climate-adaptive park infrastructure to better withstand extreme weather. Prescribed pile-burning operations planned at Cloverdale River Park

Sonoma County Regional Parks, in collaboration with Cloverdale Fire Protection District and CAL FIRE, is planning to conduct pile burns at Cloverdale River Park on November 10th. Woody material from the wildfires that occurred in the park this last summer were thinned and piled by Regional Parks’ staff over the last several months. The pile burn will begin on the morning of the 10th and continue throughout the day. Fire agencies will provide fire engines and crews to manage the burning process, and Regional Parks staff will work in collaboration with the fire agencies. Read full story

Public invited to shape future Mark West Creek Regional Park and Open Space Preserve

Sonoma County Regional Parks seeks community input to help shape the future of Mark West Creek Regional Park and Open Space Preserve in northwest Santa Rosa. The department is creating a master plan to guide the park’s future development, public access, vegetation management, educational uses and habitat enhancement. County, Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria sign co-management agreement of Tolay Lake Regional Park
