New Park and Open Space Preserve Coming to Sonoma Coast
The Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District (Ag + Open Space), a special district dedicated to protecting our working and natural lands forever, transferred ownership of a 335-acre coastal property to Sonoma County Regional Parks. Free Holiday Parking at Regional Parks for Veterans and ActiveDuty Military
In honor of Veterans Day, military members, veterans and their families will receive free parking at all Sonoma County Regional Parks on the holiday and the preceding weekend. Active duty military, veterans and their families can visit county-managed parks and trails with a special pass that waives the $7 day-use parking fee from Saturday, Nov. 7, through Wednesday, Nov. 11. Sonoma County Regional Parks is asking for community feedback on the potential for future trails, campsites and other recreational amenities at North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park and Preserve. Sonoma County’s health officer today further eased restrictions on outdoor recreation during the Covid-19 pandemic by issuing an order that allows park agencies to reopen some parking lots and sports facilities. The health order means residents can drive to inland parks beginning Wednesday, May 13, 2020. The order keeps Sonoma Coast parking areas closed to prevent crowding at beaches but allows coastal residents to walk or bike to nearby parks during limited hours. Read full story
