Regional Parks OffersVeterans, Military Free Parking Memorial Day Weekend
Sonoma County Regional Parks is offering military members and veterans free parking at all county parks over Memorial Day weekend. Veterans, active duty military personnel and their families are eligible for a special pass that waives Regional Parks’ $7 day-use parking fee from Friday, May 24, through Monday, May 27. Regional Parks HostsWorkshops for Russian River Trail
Sonoma County Regional Parks is hosting two community workshops to gather input on a potential Russian River bicycle and pedestrian trail between Forestville and Jenner. The meetings are scheduled for May 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. and May 11 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Guerneville Elementary School, 14630 Armstrong Woods Road. Read full story

Brush Pile Burning toBegin Feb. 10 at Shiloh Ranch Regional Park
Sonoma County Regional Parks and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit will begin burning brush piles at Shiloh Ranch Regional Park in southeast Windsor on Sunday, Feb. 10. The pile burn is the first of several to be conducted in the park this month and possibly into the spring, to create a fire break along a wooded boundary the park shares with the Mayacama homeowners. The park will remain open during the burning operations. Read full story
Mountain Lion Researcher Presents “Living with Lions” Session for Community
Sonoma County Regional Parks is hosting a talk by mountain lion researcher Quinton Martins at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Windsor Regional Library. The session will provide information on the movement, diet and behavior of mountain lions tracked by the “Living with Lions” project, a community conservation project Martins leads for Audubon Canyon Ranch. In honor of Veterans Day, military members and veterans willreceive free parking at all Sonoma County Regional Parks for the upcomingholiday weekend. Passes are available in advance atSonomaCounty Regional Parks’ main office and SonomaCounty Veterans Service Office and from Nov. 3 through the holiday weekend at the staffed entrances to SpringLake, Doran and Ragle Ranch parks. Tolay Lake Regional Park to Open Daily October 27, 2018

Sheep Graze the Laguna Trail
Sonoma County Regional Parks has recruited some assistancefor fire prevention and invasive species removal: sheep. A flock of sheep willspend the next five weeks grazing along the Lagunade Santa Rosa Trail near Sebastopol, removing dry vegetation and non-nativeplant species. Read full story
