Group Picnic Area Policies

  • Hours: Park hours are 7 a.m. to sunset. Parking lots and entry gates close when parks close at sunset. Allow adequate time for event clean up.
  • Activities: Requests for out-of-the-ordinary activities (catering, animal rides, etc.) must be submitted at least 30 days in advance prior to approval of reservation or permit, and may incur additional fees depending on type of activity.
  • Alcohol: To host a special event where alcohol will be served at a park that prohibits alcohol consumption, an Alcohol Use Permit must be obtained.
  • Parking and Vehicles: Parking for group events is limited and not guaranteed. We recommended groups carpool whenever possible. In parks where a parking fee is charged, that fee is due upon entry. Vehicles are restricted to paved roads and designated parking areas. Driving or parking off-road or on trails is prohibited.
  • Electricity and Music: Electrical hook-ups are not available at all picnic sites. Amplified music and/or voice, or bands of any type are not permitted. The volume of stereos, tape decks, CD players or any other noise must be kept at a minimal level.
  • Pets: Pets must be attended, cleaned up after, securely leashed and under physical control on a leash no longer than 6 feet, or contained within a vehicle or tent.
  • Campfires and BBQs: Check Red Flag Warnings and fire restriction advisories. Fire, campfire and BBQ restrictions may be in place depending on drought or weather conditions. If conditions permit, fires are allowed in fire rings and BBQ’s only. Do not burn trash in the fire rings or BBQs. Burned trash releases harmful toxins that you and others will breathe in. Pack out all trash, litter and food scraps.
  • Firewood: Buy your firewood from a local Sonoma County vendor or campground host. Don’t bring wood from home; when people move wood from place to place, they may also be moving invasive insects and diseases. Gathering or cutting wood is not allowed.
  • Decorations and Signs: Bounce houses and other inflatable play equipment are not allowed. The use of confetti, mylar balloons, and/or Styrofoam products is not allowed. Do not attach or hang decorations to trees or structures. Posting of signage, flyers, etc. is prohibited unless Regional Parks gives written approval.
  • Hammocks, Slacklines, etc.:Visitors may bring their own free-standing hammock, slackline, or tree tent stands for use in day-use areas and campsites, but they may not tie them off to trees or park structures. Additionally, the use of any of these items is not allowed if it obstructs a commonly used public right of way such as a pathway, trail, road, or other route.
  • Trash: Please clean up the site before leaving. Bring your own trash bags, and if a park trash can is full, take your garbage with you until you can dispose of it properly. The permit/reservation holder will be billed for any damage and/or staff time for clean up beyond normal use.
  • Youth: Persons under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
  • Wildlife: Protect wildlife – and your food – by securely storing your meals and trash in containers or vehicles. Close trash can and dumpster lids. Feeding, disturbing or harassing wildlife is prohibited.
  • Cell Phone Reception and Wi-Fi: Cell phone reception may be limited at some campgrounds and parks, depending on your carrier. No public Wi-Fi is available.
  • Smoking is Prohibited: Smoking, including e-cigarettes and vaping, is prohibited in all Sonoma County Regional Parks and campgrounds.
  • Fields: Sports fields may be closed seasonally during the winter, depending on rain. Contact ranger station to verify fields are open prior to reservation.
  • Fees: Fees are subject to change without notice.

Failure to comply with policies, rules and regulations may result in eviction from the park and/or a loss of paid fees. It is the reservation holder's responsibility to ensure all members of their party are informed and comply with all park rules and policies
